Kerala’s own laptop brand Coconics is all set to release its products in the market in January 2020. Made by the public sector enterprise Keltron, Coconics laptops are being made at the Keltron centre in Thiruvananthapuram, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. In a Facebook post published on Wednesday, Pinarayi Vijayan also said that the laptop will be launched in three models and in four different colours. Along with Keltron, Coconics is being made with the association of Intel, UST Global, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation and a startup company Acceleron. “Coconics which is being made by aiming international markets, is a perfect example of Make in India,” Chief Minister quoted Intel’s India head Nivruti Rai as having said. The CM also stated that Coconics is not just aiming to make, sell and repair laptops, but is also focussed on taking back old laptops to create an efficient e-waste management system. The laptops are being made at Keltron’s old printed circuit board making centre in Thiruvananthapuram’s Manvila. The centre will have a capacity to manufacture 2,50,000 laptops by the end of 2019. As per the statement of Coconics, the initial range of products from Coconics will be aimed at government enterprises and education markets with features customised for Indian users. The three models of Coconics are: CC11B, CC11A and C314A. CC11B is a two-in-one notebook, featuring a 11-inch FHD touchscreen display, Intel Celeron N3350 processor, 4GB RAM, 64 GB eMMC storage, USB Type C connectivity and 8-hour battery back-up for frequent travellers.
